 I have always been a story teller, it is in my nature. With hand thrown terracotta vessels  that are painted with coloured slips, my work tells the stories of landscapes, people and there interaction with each other. In most cases I like to employ sgraffito techniques to enhance the decoration, giving depth to the illustrations. Glazing the work  brings depth to the colours and texture, with the addition of transfers and luster, the vessels are transformed into highly decorative and useful objects.

 

On occasions I apply decoration directly onto terracotta tile, made by hand, from material left over in the studio, from the throwing process. Some of these tile murals can be over 2m squared.
